If you are an artist trying to make money in this cruel world of ours, I recommend you read
this, and subsequently direct all disrespectful asshats to it the next time someone wants your services but doesn't want to pay you fairly for them.
Trying to scratch out some sort of a living on Guru.com, a website that hosts project listings intended for freelancers (artists, writers, etc), has taught me that there are farrrrrrrr too many people out there that just don't understand the value of an artist's services. For instance: one employer has posted at least
twice on Guru looking for an artist to do well over a hundred black and white coloring book illustrations for $70US...less than a DOLLAR per illustration! I don't know about you, but I certainly don't adhere to sweatshop-esque working conditions. Maybe it's ignorance, maybe it's malice, but either way, anybody who wants to pay an artist a paltry sum in exchange for quality/professional work needs to read that article.
